In Art class this semester we got together in groups to
compose a play that corresponded with a scene in the book our group read. We decided to choose a very important place
in the story which was when the main character introduced another character
(his friend, Sistine) to a tiger that he had found in the woods. The tiger is the center of the book and leads
the characters to their own realizations about life. I found the book to be interesting but the
ending was sad. I’m not sure if this is
a book I would read with my students in class.
Obviously, it would depend on their age, but it also may depend on how
well I knew my students in order to gauge how they would react. I do like that some may be able to relate to
the characters which would be beneficial and it could teach them empathy
hearing the characters’ point of view even if they could not relate.
